About The Artist

When I took a watercolor class in 1983, I discovered the excitement of working with color . . . and twenty years later color still catches my fancy. It is the focus of my scarves.

My studio is located in Bremerton, WA. I have been self-employed as an artist for most of my life. I began selling on the craft tables at the historic Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington in 1975. In 1985, I switched my product to hand painted silk scarves so that I could keep working with colors. Over the years my designs and techniques have changed, but for the last 10 years I have been using a salt technique that continually challenges and fascinates me. When I step back and look at the array of colors in my scarves, I find a predominance of rich deep colors.

When a person stops in front of my table at Pike Place Market and comments - "Oh, what beautiful colors!" - I feel I have succeeded, for my aim is to provide a variety of enticing color combinations that "speak" to people. What better medium to use than beautiful, shimmering, sensual silk that can be worn and enjoyed for years.
